
Thomas Finn, PhD, and Donna Finn, PT, MS
Tom and Donna Finn have dedicated their lives to family, healthcare, education, and marriage ministry, serving their community through their professional and volunteer work. Throughout four decades of experience in their respective fields and various volunteer roles, they have witnessed to the values of resilience, reverence and respect.
Dr. Thomas Finn is a licensed psychologist with over 40 years of clinical experience. Has been on the staff of the Franciscan Life Center in Meriden, CT since 1984 and was in private practice in Southington, CT until 2024. For 30 years, he directed LEAP Adventure Programs, an experiential team-building and leadership training service for personal, organizational, and spiritual development through the Franciscan Life Center. Dr. Finn has led workshops across the U.S. on anxiety management, parenting, marriage, human sexuality, and spirituality. Additionally, he teaches the annual Pastoral Counseling Seminar at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy. He holds Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical-School Psychology from Hofstra University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Fairfield University. He is also a recipient of the 2025 St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation for service to the Archdiocese of Hartford.
Donna Finn, PT, M.S., worked in healthcare for over 40 years, most recently as a Clinical Team Manager with Hartford HealthCare at Home. Her career included clinical and management roles at Yale-New Haven Hospital, CT Easter Seal, and Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care. She was an active volunteer in Catholic education, serving on the steering committee for Southington Catholic School and as its inaugural School Board Chair. In recognition of her service, she received the Archdiocese of Hartford Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Award in 2016. Donna earned a Masters of Science in Health Sciences Administration from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a Professional Certificate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fairfield University.
Beginning in the 1980s, Tom and Donna were deeply involved in marriage and family ministry for the Archdiocese of Hartford. They were presenting team members for the Engaged Encounter marriage preparation retreat program since 1984 and served several terms as Archdiocesan Engaged Encounter coordinators. They coordinated the Archdiocesan Office of Family Life’s Annual Marriage Enrichment Program and previously served as coordinators for Programs for Human Sexuality from 1985 to 2000. Together, they have authored three books on love, relationships, and marriage: Love and Relationships: God’s Plan for Human Sexuality, Intimate Bedfellows: Love, Sex, and the Catholic Church, and Making True Love: A Guide to Lasting Relationships. In 2016, they received the Archdiocese of Hartford St. Gianna Beretta Molla Pro-Life Award for their advocacy for life and marriage. In 2025, they authored the book A Caregiver’s Well-Being: How to Master Stress and Find Balance While Caring for Loved Ones with Dementia and have conducted workshops and retreats in support of caregivers.
Married for over 40 years, the Finns have three children, two sons-in-law, a daughter- in-law, and five grandchildren. Over the decades, they served their local parish in many ministries including Baptism, Confirmation, marriage preparation, CCD, and Children’s Liturgy. They now live in Youngsville, NC.
